The German mezzo-sopranbo, Roswitha Müller, studied in Karlsruhe, and with Kurt Widmer in Basel, where she studied singing with the soloist diploma in. Further studies and master-classes, among them with Margreet Honig and Bodil Guemo. She is winner of the Yamaha-Europe-Foundation and the Kiefer-Hablitzel-Stiftung.
Roswitha Müller appears predominantly in the concert and oratorio work and in her artistic work co-operates with conductors such as Wolfgang Schäfer, Ed Spanjaard and Arnold Bosman. Under the direction of Graziella Contratto she performed Gustav Mahler's Wunderhorn-Lieder and Berlioz' Les Nuits d'Eté. She s a popular performer of contemporary music. She appeared in Plainte II by Klaus Huber and cammina, cammina by Andrea L. Scartazziniat at the the Tagen für Neue Musik Zürich and Luciano Berio's Folksongs at the Berliner Festwochen.
As part of the Lucerne Festival Roswitha Müller sang Monteverdi's 8th Book of Madrigals and Wolfgang Rihm's Jakob Lenz; furthermore, she could be heard in Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea at the Kleinen Szene der Semperoper Dresden, in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Young European Festival in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and in George Frideric Handel's Alcina in Neuchatel and Bern, and sang repeated in the Pocket Opera Zürich under the baton of Howard Griffiths.
As a Lieder singer Roswitha Müller performs with the pianists Gerard Wyss, Hans Adolfsen, Kelvin Grout and Arnold Bosman. There are CD recordings of Lieder by Fanny Hensel and the Dutch composer Rudolf Escher.
Roswitha Müller is Professor of singing at the Zürcher Konservatorium and the Zürcher Hochschule. Among her pupils and/or singers who have attended her master-classes: Yves Brühwiler (Bass-Baritone). |
