The Japanese tenor, Katsuhiko Nakashima, studied from 2003 to 2006 at the Tokyo University of the Arts, obtaining his Master of Music degree, and in 2012 completed the Doctorate course of its opera department. He studied there with Kannichi Suzuki, Noriko Sasaki, Hiroyuki Yoshida, Anton Tremmel. He is currently studying Baroque singing at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz.
Katsuhiko Nakashima made his debut on the concert platform with the tenor solo in the Messiah by George Frideric Handel. Then, St. Matthew Passion (, BWV 244) (Evangelist), St. John Passion (BWV 245) (Evangelist), Mass in B minor (BWV 232), Magnificat (BWV 243) by J.S. Bach; Requiem, Mass in C minor, Coronation Mass by W.A. Mozart; Mass in D major (Missa Solemnis), Symphony No. 9 by L.v. Beethoven, The Creation, Seasons by Haydn; Paul, Symphony No.2 by Felix Mendelssohn; Dvorak's Stabat Mater, Orff's Carmina Burana. With the Bach Collegium Japan (Director: Masaaki Suzuki), he has performed already in Japan, Hong Kong, and in several European countries (France, Spain, Italy, Germany ...). In 2011, he took over the tenor solo in the Messiah with Bach Collegium Japan.
As an opera singer, Katsuhiko Nakashima has performed Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Lindoro in Nina, Calloandro in La Morinara, Paolino in Il Matrimonio Segreto, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Gomatz in W.A. Mozart's Zaide, Bastien in Bastien und Bastienne, Nemorino in L’Elisir D’amore, Il Conte D’Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Florville in Il Signor Bruschino, Fenton in Falstaff, Alfredo in La Traviata. In 2008 participated in the production of the New National Theatre Tokyo (NNTT) as First Jew in Salome and three young officers in Die Soldaten. In 2009, in the production of the New National Theatre Tokyo Studio as L'aumônier in Dialogues of the Carmelites. Then, in 2010, in the production of NNTT as Remendado in Carmen. In February 2011, he performed in the 39th Hong Kong Art Festival. |
