The German soprano and music pedagogue, Carola Nossek, began her musical education in 1967 at the Conservatory of Schwerin. After graduating, she began her singing studies with Professor Elsbeth Plehn at the Musikhochschule of Dresden, which she completed in 1972 with the state examination as a singer and voice teacher. She was a winner of numerous competitions including the Robert Schumann Competition and the International Bach Competition.
From 1972 to 1975, Carola Nossek was an ensemble member at Staatsoper Dresden, where she made her debut as Nanette in Wildschütz by Lortzing. Already in 1974 she mader her debut at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin as Echo in the opera Ariadne auf Naxos under a guest engagement. From 1975 to 1995, the Kammersängerin was engaged as a member of the ensemble in this opera house. There she sang parts from the range of the lyrical colorature soubrette, including Marie in The Bartered Bride by Smetana, Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Despina in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Servilia in W.A. Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito and Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Ännchen in Der Freischütz, Woglinde in Das Rheingold, Nuri in Tiefland, Micaëla in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Taumännchen and Sandmännchen in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Marzelline in L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio and Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos by R. Strauss. Furthermore, she appeared in various roles in operas as Parsifal, Das Rheingold, Jenůfa, Elektra, Orpheus in der Unterwelt and Rosenkavalier. In 1976 she took part in the premiere of the opera Meister Röckle by Joachim Werzau.
Carola Nossek had successful concerts and opera guest performances at home and abroad. She has performed e.g. with the ensemble of the Berliner Staatsoper in Japan and in 1986 at the Festival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Despina, Marzelline). In 1990, she was heard at the Berliner Staatsoper in the title role in Die Kluge by C. Orff, in 1991 as Susanna in Figaro, in 1995 as Nuri in Tiefland by Eugen d'Albert. In addition to her operatic performances she worked intensively with wide Lieder repertoire.
For more than a decade, Carola Nossek teaches voice at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin.
Carola Nossek made numerous recordings for radio, record and television.
