The German mezzo-soprano, Barbara Ochs, studied opera and concert singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg with Professor Gisela Litz and in Cologne with Professor Klesie Kelly. She is a scholarship holder of the Italian Cultural Institute and the Richard Wagner Verbandes.
Following her studies, Barbara Ochs had guest engagements at the Oper Bonn, Frankfurter Oper and RuhrTriennale. There she worked together with Achim Freyer, Sylvain Cambreling, Sebastian Gottschick, the Ensemble Modern and the Klangforum Wien, among others. She also appeared at the Festival d'Automne in Paris, the Styrian Autumn Graz and the Lincoln Festival in New York. As a soloist, she also sang Christmas carols together with the Cappella Coloniensis of the WDR under the direction of Michael Schneider and sang under Michael Boder with the Bamberger Symphoniker. In 2001, she also sang the Beethoven Concerts at the Salzburg Easter Festival under the direction of Claudio Abbado. She is a guest of the Rundfunkchor Berlin. Since 2004 she has been a member of the Opernchor der Bühnen der Stadt Köln and in the current season she is also one of the four youngsters in Tannhäuser. She was also a member of Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann). |
