The Chilean baritone, Franco Esteban Oportus Vergara, studied music at the Alberto Hurtado University in the Santiago, graduating in Musical Performance with a special mention in Singing. As a soloist and chorister he has participated in different productions, concerts and seasons in important stages and halls in Chile. During his university period he dedicated himself to doing assistantships and private and group singing and music theory classes. He participated in various professional productions, such as the cycle of chamber music concerts of the same university, the cycle of J.S. Bach cantatas of the Catholic University of Chile and operas in the most important stages of Chile, including Dancairo in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Marullo in Rigoletto and Pastor 2 in L’Orfeo. Between 2020 and 2022 he participated in the first Young Artists Program in Chile, in charge of the Ibáñez Atkinson Foundation, where she trained with renowned teachers such as John Norris, Bradley Moore and Eytan Pessen.
Since 2022, Franco Oportus has been in Germany where he participated in the Opera Studio of the Landestheater Detmold and the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, making his debuts as Lämmemeier in Frau Luna, Masetto in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Ping in Turandot, Robert in Das Feuerwerk and Falke in Die Fledermaus. At the same time, always interested in the German repertoire, he began his regular study of Lied, which led him to participate in competitions such as the Schubert and Schumann in Zwickau with his duo Yinxuan Li. |
