The Korean pianist and composer, Sehwan Park, earned his Bachelor of Music degree and Master's degree at the Chung Nam National University. He was selected to perform at the Daejeon Citizen's concert hall and he played the Sergei Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Chung Nam National University Orchestra as the first place winner in the Concerto Competition (1994).
Sehwan Park performs regularly in solo recitals and as a collaborative pianist. He was a pianist for the Mannes Opera department while he was in the Mannes College. In 2005, he would graduate from the Mannes School of Music as a scholarship student, and his talents were recognized as he was awarded the Peter M. Gross award. He would go on to frequently perform at the school as his musical talents as a conductor, composer, writer, and pianist were in high demand. His experience as a performer was not limited to just the tri-state area. Later that year, he was asked to travel with the Astrakahn National Conservatory Orchestra. He has been performing with numerous singers and instrument players in Korea and New York Metropolitan area such as Carnegie Weill recital hall, Symphony Space, Merkin hall and Sejong Cultural Hall. He performed Frédéric Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Astrakahn National Conservatory Orchestra in Russia (2005) as well. He coached singers and played Cembalo at the OSH Opera company for W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and it was broadcasting at the KBS News and he played for the FBI Asian/Pacific American Hertiage Celebration in Newark and New York City.
Sehwan Park was the music director at the United Korean Church of New York and he was a pianist at the OSH Opera Company, New York Solist Ensemble, an associate artistic director and associate conductor at the Harmonia Opera Inc. and he has been working at the Rutgers State University as a department assistant and DMA course from 2010 to 2014. Following that experience, he would perform at many cultural concerts as well as government sponsored concerts for the FBI and the US Attorney. He has frequently worked with the New York Soloist Ensemble, performing in recitals at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Symphony Space, Kaye Hall at Hunter College and other churches and concert halls throughout the tri-state area. Sehwan Park is currently a pianst at the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, academic faculty at Chung Nam National University and contractor musician at Huks Music Management Company as well as he released many solo albums and arranged Piano trio (Triope) album by SONY label.
Sehwan Park has played such J.S. Bach's works as the Coffee Cantata (BWV 211), Chromatic Fantasia & Fugue (BWV 903), Bach-Busoni's Chaconne (BWV 1004), Well Tempered Clavier Book 1 & 2 (BWV 846-869, BWV 870-893), Violin Sonata, Concerto for 2 Violins (BWV 1043) and other many pieces. |
