African-American mezzo-soprano, Alexis Peart, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education, with Distinction from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (2016-2020).She is currently studies for her Master of Music degree in ocal Performance; Certificate in Fundraising Management at Boston University (since September 2021; expected graduation 2023). She is a 2020 and 2021 alumna of the Wolf Trap Studio Artists Program.
Operatic highlights include the title role in George Frideric Handel's Giulio Cesare with Chicago Summer Opera (2019), Der Trommler in Viktor Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis with the Eastman Opera Theater (2019), Léonore in Andre Campra’s Le Carnaval de Venise (2019) and Cupid in John Blow’s Venus and Adonis (2020) with Eastman’s Baroque ensemble Collegium Musicum, and Alma March in Mark Adamo’s Little Women with Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, coached by the composer (2018).
In concert, Alexis Peart has appeared as the alto soloist in L.v. Beethoven’s Mass in C with the Finger Lakes Choral Festival (2021), J.S. Bach's cantatas BWV 102 Herr deine Augen sehen nach dem Glauben (2018), BWV 48 Ich elender Mensch, wer wird mich erlösen (2018), and BWV 79 Gott der Herr ist Sonn und Schild (2020), as the alto soloist in G.F. Handel's Messiah (2019) with the Eastman School of Music.
In the 2021-2022 season, Alexis Peart joined the Boston University Opera Institute as the seductive devil, Brittomara, in Jake Heggie’s If I Were You, and as Taller Daughter in Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up. She then debuts the role of Ada Lovelace in Guerilla Opera’s world premiere opera workshop of The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage by Elena Ruher. In 2022-2023, she performs with the Rochester Oratorio Society as the Voice of Israel in R. Nathaniel Dett’s The Ordering of Moses and the Boston University Opera Institute as Mrs. Soames in Ned Rorem’s Our Towns. She joins Boston Lyric Opera in their ensemble of Charles Gounod's Romeo and Juliet and La Bohéme and as several bit roles in their production of Rhiannon Giddens’ Omar.
Alexis Peart was Development and Marketing Coordinator at Guerilla Opera (July 2021-August 2022). She is currently based in Boston, Massachusetts and is Executive Director at Boston Opera Collaborative. |
