Søren Pedersen (Baritone)

Born: June 3, 1999 - San Diego, California, USA

The American baritone, Søren Pedersen, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from the Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, Caloifornia (2017-2022), with Music Scholarships (voice and piano) of Provost's Scholarship (Academic Award). He received voice lessons with Michael Sokol and Craig Johnson (2017-2019); and attended master-classes/coachings with Nathan Gunn (2018); Stephen Powell (2019); Ginger Costa-Jackson (2019); ILA: Stefano Vignati (2019); Matthew Markham (2019); Mark Daboll (2019); Lisa Engelbrecht (2019); Yunah Lee (2019); Bruce Stasyna (SDO) (2019). Awards and experiences: National Association of Teachers of Singing, San Diego, Winner (2nd place), Lower College Classical (Fall 2018).

Søren Pedersen's performance experiences includes: Title role in fully-staged production of W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni at International Lyric Academy Summer Opera Program in Vicenza, Italy (Summer 2019); Marcello in fully-staged production of Puccini's La Boheme at Point Loma Nazarene University (Fall 2019); Bass/Baritone solos in George Frideric Handel's Messiah and Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah (April 2022) at Point Loma Nazarene University (2017-2019); Opera Wednesdays at La Jolla Community Center (Fall 2019); French scenes at Point Loma Nazarene University (Spring 2019); Leonard Bernstein;s scenes at Point Loma Nazarene University (Fall 2018). Professional (Paid) experience: Choral Intern and Youth Choir Section Leader at La Jolla Presbyterian Church, (2017-2020); Paid section leader for La Jolla Community Church special programs (2017).

Søren Pedersen is finishing his Master of Music degree in Voice at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he has performed as Tarquinius in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia, Dr. Rappaccini in Daniel Catán's La Hija de Rappaccini, and Demetrius in B. Britten's A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He joined the San Diego where he has performed Second Commissioner in Francis Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites; Moralès in Georges Bizet Carmen; Chorus in W.A. Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and Dialogues of the Carmelites). Additionally, he has performed with San Diego Opera as Schaunard in La bohème (November 2024) and Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly (April 2024). He recently won the district level of The Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition. He currently lives in San Diego, California, USA. His father is the choral conductor and music educator Keith Pedersen.
