The Danish mezzo-soprano, Andrea Pellegrini, graduated from The Royal Danish Opera Acamedy in 2006, and she had furthermore participated in master-classes with Thomas Hemsley, Roger Vignoles, Helmut Deutsch, Anthony Rolfe-Johnson and David Radok. She has received a number of awards and scholarships.
Andrea Pellegrini has in just a few years established herself as one of Denmark’s leading mezzo-sopranos in both opera, recital and concert repertory. At the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen she has since her debut in 2006 as Rosina in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia appeared as Annio in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito, Alisa in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and most recently as Valencienne in Lehár’s The Merry Widow. In 2006 she made her debut at the Danish National Opera in Århus as Cehrubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, and the following year she appeared as Mercedes in Georges Bizet’s Carmen at Teater Hedeland.
Andrea Pellegrini has appeared in concert with the leading Danish orchestras - among them the Royal Danish Orchestra, Danish National Radio Concert Orchestra and Concerto Copenhagen - and worked with conductors such as Adam Fischer, Giancarlo Andretta, Christian Badea, Giordano Bellincampi and Lars Ulrik Mortensen. She furthermore has regular collaboration with recital partners Christen Stubbe Teglbjærg and Ulrich Stærk.
Her extensive concert repertoire includes both the major J.S. Bach’s works (St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244), St. John Passion (BWV 245), Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), B minor Mass (BWV 232) and the Magnificat (BWV 243)) as well as Georg Frideric Handel’s Messiah and Judas Maccabaeus, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Felix Mendelssohn’s Eliah, Rossini’s Petite messe solenelle, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and the Dvorak and Mozart Requiems. She has sung Arianna in Haydn’s cantata Arianna a Naxos with harpsichordist Lars Ulrik Mortensen in 2006. The following year she appeared with very short notice in César Franck’s oratorio Les beautitudes in Musikhalle in Hamburg.
Andrea Pellegrinihas recorded several CDs - among them J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) for the Classico label and works by Peder Gram for the Dacapo label. In 2008 she recived The Annual Prize of the Music Critics Association of Denmark. |
