The American violinist and violist, Martha Katrherine Perry (Martie Perry), obtained her Master of Music in Early Music Performance from Indiana University in Bloomington, where she was a student of Stanley Ritchie (1999-2002). While at Indiana University Martha served as Stanley Ritchie's graduate assistant for the Indiana University Baroque Orchestra, as an Associate Instructor for the Music Education Department, and was a recipient of the Dorothy L. Penniman Graduate School of Music Scholarship. She has studied at early music workshops and performed on master-classes in the USA, Canada, England, and Austria, as well as with Baroque violinist Annie Loud.
Martha Perry, in addition to being a member of New Trinity Baroque, performs with the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra and Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, Dayton Bach Society, and the ensemble, Anima Fortis, winner of Early Music America's 2002 "Professional Development Award." Having performed at the Berkeley, Bloomington, and Boston Early Music Festivals, she has also recently performed with Ensemble Ouabache, The Comic Intermezzo, and on an educational artist residency with the ensemble Marley's Head. She has performed with Virginia-based groups Capriole, The Governor's Musick, The Cavalier Consort, and Old Dominion University's Collegium Musicum, and has been heard on the early music radio program, "Harmonia," and on N.P.R.'s "Performance Today."
Martha Perry is currently serving as the Executive Assistant for the Bloomington Early Music Festival in Bloomington, Indiana. She currently lives in Bloomington, Indiana. |
