Christoph Pfaller (Tenor)

Born: 1992 - Munich, Bavaria, Germany

The German tenor, Christoph Pfaller, received his first musical education at the world- renowned Thomanerchor Leipzig Starting his musical studies there at the age of 9, he was a student of Kammersänger Martin Petzold. He undertook countless travels with the choir in Germany and abroad (Japan, South Korea, Australia, etc.) under the direction of former Thomaskantor Georg Christoph Biller. As a boy soprano, he also took part in recording and concerts as a soloist. In the 2004-2005 season, he sang the role of the Erste Knabe in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Leipzig Opera. Since 2013, he has been studying with Professor Christina Wartenberg at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Leipzig. He is an awardee of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg 2017 scholarship.

Christoph Pfaller's stage debut as a tenor took place in May 2016, when he sang the role of Pokayne in Peter Maxwell Davies' Kommilitonen, directed by Mathias Oldag. In May 2017 he sang the role of Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni. The young tenor still maintains a deep and intense relationship to the study of oratorio, which he started pursuing as a young musician. Today, he is a highly desired soloist all over Germany, especially as an Evangelist and interpreter of J.S. Bach. This has allowed him the opportunity to work regularly with renowned conductors such as Hans-Christoph Rademann, Frieder Bernius, Michael Schönheit and Thomaskantor Gotthold Schwarz. He is also a member of Gaechinger Cantorey (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann), and Collegium Vocale Leipzig (Director: Michael Schönheit).

In September 2017, Christoph Pfaller recorded his first CD containing J.S. Bach's Cantatas together with the Chapelle de la Vigne Freiburg, directed by Bernhard Schmidt.
