The Dutch contralto/mezzo-soprano, Annemieke van der Ploeg, discovered during her piano studies at the Conservatory and the training teacher education, her talent and love for singing. After completing the teacher training college, she continued her training as a classical singer at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen and the Koninklijk Conservatorium (Royal Conservatory) in The Hague. She received singing lessons from Sasja Hunnego, Jan and Gerda van Zelm and graduated in 2004. She took lessons and master-classes with Jard van Nes, Miranda van Kralingen, Michael Chance, Romanian opera singer Constantin Nica, Marco Beasley and Margreet Honig. Currently she is coached by Hanneke de Wit. In addition, she takes singing lessons with the respiratory therapist Paul Triepels.
Annemieke van der Ploeg's voice is warm, bright and flexible allowing her to sing solo and in vocal ensemble in the Basoque repertoire she sang solos in Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) and several cantatas by J.S. Bach (Cantata BWV 35 ); Membra Nostri Jesu by Dietrich Buxtehude; Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and D. Scarlatti and Magnificat and Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi, with conductors such as Jan Willem de Vriend, Klaas Stok and Jelke Hamersma. She also founded the the Baroque ensemble La Squadra, with which she regularly appears in the Netherlands. In March/April 2012 she participated as an ensemble member of the Nederlands Kamerkoor in a tour of Europe with St. John Passion by J.S. Bach, conducted by Christoph Prégardien.
In the Classical repertoire, she sang the alto/ mezzo parts in Die Krönungsmesse and Missa brevis in D minor by W.A. Mozart and Mass in C by L.v. Beethoven. In oratorio, she was soloist in oratorios, among others, Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) by J.S. Bach, Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn, and Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saëns.
Her operatic repertoire includes roles such as; Carmen i the opera by Georges Bizet; Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck, MacHeath in Weill's Drei Gros Cher Opera; La Chatte in L'enfant et les sortilèges by Ravel; La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica by Puccini; Ida in Die Fledermaus by Strauss and the 3rd and 2nd Lady Knabe in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte; L'incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi She also participated in the implementation of The Desert Music by Steve Reich conducted by Reinbert at Steve Reich Festival in The Hague.
As a freelancer, Annemieke van der Ploeg is connected with the Nederlands Kamerkoor in Amsterdam, the Groot Omroepkoor (Netherlands Radio Choir) in Hilversum, the Choir of the National Touring Opera, the Dutch Academy Choir conducted by Klaas Stok and the Künstvermittlung Hamburg since September 2010 (Germany)., and the Choir of the Dutch Opera (January 2014). Conductors with whom she has worked include Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Jaap van Sweden, Philippe Herreweghe, Peter Dijkstra, Frans Brüggen and Ed Spanjaard. In September/October 2012, she participated as an ensemble member of the Nederlands Kamerkoor Anniversary Tour to the Netherlands on the occasion of the 75 years anniversary of the choir. Since June 2013, she also sings with the Nederlandse Bachvereniging (Director: Jos van Veldhoven).
