The German soprano, Anja Pöche (née Lipfert), BEGAN HER musical careerin childhood. From 1986 to 1997 she was a member of the MDR Kinderchor (children’s choir of the local broadcaster). At the age of 12, she began taking piano lessons. In 2003 she was among the prize-winners of the national competition “Jugend Musiziert” (youth makes music) in the section ‘duet: voice and piano.’ In October 2003, she began studying vocal studies at the ‘Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelsohn Bartholdy’ in Leipzig as pupil of Adelheid Vogel. After successful completion of her studies, she received her diploma in January 2010. In addition, she also holds a degree in vocal pedagogy (2010), and since then she is also active teaching.
Anja Pöche joined the a capella Calmus Ensemble Leipzig as soprano in 2001, marking the group’s transition from an all-male to a mixed ensemble. . In 2009 she won with her four colleagues an ECHO Klassik award in the category "Classical without Frontiers".
In addition to concert tours with the Calmus Ensemble Leipzig throughout Europe, North and South America, Anja Pöche sings regularly as a soloist in oratorio and cantata concerts with engagements throughout Germany, the USA, Ireland (including Kilkenny Arts Festival and Barrow River Arts Festival with violinist Maya Homburger and Camerata Kilkenny), Switzerland (including Davos Festival, Boswiler Sommer and Camera Zürich) and UK (Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival).
A major focus of Anja Pöche's is the music of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries. In 2013, she sang the soprano part in the premiere of Barry Guy's Time passing at the Tonhalle Zürich. In the 2015-2016 season, she can be heard in Germany, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Switzerland, the USA, Canada, France, Poland and Panama. She currently lives in in Leipzig, Germany. |
