The German baritone, Albrecht Pöhl, was a member in the Knabenchor Hannover under the direction of Professor Heinz Hennig from 1975 to 1979. Besides further instrumental training in violin, guitar and piano, he already received singing instruction during his school time with Professor Jörg Straube. From 1987 to 1995 he studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, where he became member of the opera department in the class of Professor Carl-Heinz Müller-Thiemens. During his studies he won first prizes with the Richard-Wagner-Verbandes Minden and with the internal competition of the Hannover's Musikhochschule. In 1994 he participated actively in a master-class for Lieder interpretation with Irvin Gage in Lübeck. In 1995 he finished his studies in the opera-department/solo with diploma and passed the entrance examination to the soloist class of the Musikhochschule Hannover. Following his studies, he became a private pupil of Wolfgang A. Palm.
Albrecht Pöhl has participated in numerous solo concert engagements, radio, TV and CD productions in the areas of Lieder, opera and oratorio. His engagements have led him, apart from Germany, to Japan, Tunisia, Prague and Vienna. Furthermore he participated at the Göttinger Händel Festival, with Reinhard Goebel at the Telemann-Festspielen Magdeburg 2002, at the Braunschweiger Kammermusik-Podium, and likewise in 2002 under Thomas Hengelbrock at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.
Various guest engagements have led Albrecht Pöhl to the opera houses of Braunschweig, Bielefeld, Potsdam, Saarbrücken, Essen, the Bayerische Staatsoper München and the Niedersächsische Staatsoper Hannover. In Hannover he was engaged from 1997 to 2001 as a permanent ensemble member. He is now active as free-lance singer in the areas of opera, oratorio and Lieder. |
