The German tenor and former boy soprano, Robert Pohlers, was admitted to the Thomanerchor Leipzig in 2004, where he started his first singing lessons with Jorn Sakuth, and is expected to remain in the Choir till 2013. In his time as a boy alto, he took many choir solos (including in J.S. Bach's Cantatas), for which he was awarded the Jakob-Petzold-Legat in 2008. He also appeared on stage as Third Boy in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in Leipzig and as a boy soloist in Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms in the Weimar Opera House. He studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig.
In 2009, Robert Pohlers co-founded and joined the Ensemble Fimmadur, in which he sang first tenor. In addition, since 2011, he has been singing as a tenor soloist with various choirs. He won a second prize at the national competition «Jugend Musiziert» in the category of "duo kunstlied" (voice and piano) in 2012. In 2013, he left Ensemble Fimmadur snd joined Ensemble Amarcord in which he sings second tenor. He currently lives in Leipzig, Germany. |
