Kimberly Poli (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: USA

The American mezzo-soprano and music teacher, Kimberly Poli, has been performing professionally as a singer and entertainer since she was 16 years old. As a child, she recorded vocals in Nashville for a family folk album, and was an active soloist in her community; appearing on the local telethon and radio station, and singing for church services, weddings and school programs. In High School she placed first chair Alto 1 in multiple choral competitions and was honored with an invitation to the MENC All-Eastern Choral Festival in Boston, Massachusetts. Also during her High School years, she started her first job as an entertainer aboard the Proud Mary at Lake Raystown Resort in Pennsylvania, and performed her first operatic role as Hansel in a local production of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel. She has Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, ann Master of Music degree in Voice Performance.

Kimberly Poli has performed principal roles with Harrisburg Opera Association, Lancaster Opera, Capitol Opera Harrisburg, Loudoun Lyric Opera, Civic Theater of Indianapolis, Shenandoah Conservatory Opera, Sierra Madre Playhouse, Valley Opera and Performing Arts, and Guild Opera of Los Angeles; and has had long-term professional engagements with the Indianapolis Opera Chorus, Indianapolis Opera Ensemble, Emmy Award winner Tim Brickley's Jazz Quintet, the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington D.C., and All Saint's Episcopal Church in Pasadena, California. She has appeared as a guest artist with organizations like Hershey Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Symphony Orchestra, The Susquehanna Chorale and Messiah Choral Arts Society; and was a featured soloist on a nationally televised Christmas Eve Program Enter the Light of Life on CBS. Recently she has appeared in Los Angeles venues like Catalina Jazz Club and the Mark Taper Auditorium with her husband, Brazilian guitarist and composer, Matheus Poli, performing Bossa Nova and other world music.

In addition to performing, Kimberly poli is a dedicated music educator with over 20 years of teaching experience; including 5 years as a music teacher and choral director in Pennsylvania public schools, and 15 months as an overseas volunteer in Nigeria. Currently, she directs the Choristers Children's Choir at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Altadena, serves as artistic director for Guild Opera's Opera Outreach program in Los Angeles, and is the sole proprietor of Polyglot Music, offering private lessons in voice and piano to all ages in the San Fernando Valley since 2012.

Kimberly Poli's operatic roles include Carmen i n Georges Bizet's Carmen, Dorabella in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Oberon in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Stefano in Charles Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus Bella in Paganini, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Flora in La Traviata, 3rd Spirit in W.A. Mozart's The Magic Flute, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Alice in Alice in Wonderland, Little Buttercup in HMS Pinafore, Mad Margaret in Ruddigore, and Lady Jane in Patience. In music theater, she has performed as Mehitabel in Archie and Mehitabel, Brenda in The Pajama Game, and created the role of Mary in Romance from Broadway to Lincoln Center. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
