The German mezzo-soprano, Charlotte Quadt, played in her youth at the Junges Theater Bonn (1993-2003). She studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt (2003-2011). Currently, she is supervised by James McCray. Master-classes with Professor Peter Schreier, Helen Donath, Kammersänger Reinhard Leisenheimer and Ingeborg Danz contributed to he musical education. In 2012, she was a finalist at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in Berlin and sang at the Komische Oper under the direction of Axel Kober. She is a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Verbandes.
Since 2010, Charlotte Quadt has performed as a self-emloyed singer. Numerous engagements have led her to various opera houses in Germany. For instance, she could be heard as a Mercedes in Georges Bizet's Carmen and Blumenmädchen in Parsifal at the Staatstheater Darmstadt (2010-2011). At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, she was on stage in Francis Poulenc's Les dialogues des Camelites and Strauss' Elektra (January-September 2013). She has a particularly close relationship with the opera house of her hometown Bonn. There she has regularly been a guest for several years and has been involved in a variety of productions (Solist in Rinaldo/Hoffmann: November 2014-July 2015; Dido and Aeneas: October-November 2013; Das Nusch Nuschi; Manon Lescaut; Lakme; Wildschütz; Carmen). From January 2017, she will be on stage for the first time in Münster. There she will be seen in George Frideric Handel's Alcina as Bradamante. Further opera roles have taken her her to the Theater Hagen, Theater Freiburg (April-May 2013; Parsifal) and Detmold.
Apart from opera Charlotte Quadt also devotes great attention to the concert repertoire. Her preference is the Baroque music and the great oratorios of Classical and Romantic periods. She has performed with the Bayerischen Philharmonie München, Konzertchor Darmstadt, Basler Bach-Chor and Essener Bachchor, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester, and since has been involved in the Bach Cantata Cycle of the Kreuzkirche Bonn since 2014 (Director: Karin Freist-Wissing). Future concerts include J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) in Wiesbaden and Essen, L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf under the direction of Christoph Spering, and in 2017 J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) (scenic) at the Kreuzkirche in Bonn. In 2014 she maried the tenor Sebastian Kohlhepp. |
