The American bass and actor, Alan Porter Rackley, made his stage debut at the age of 12 with the Arkansas Opera Theater. He was also a charter member of the Arkansas Boys Choir. After moving to Los Angeles, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Arts (Music History, Literature, and Theory) from the University of Southern California (August 1995-May 1998), where he studied with Cynthia Munzer. His acting studies have included Stella Adler Conservatory, The Groundlings, ComedySportzLA and AIA Actors' Studio.
Alan Rackley was a longtime company member of The Underground Theater in Hollywood, where he appeared in and directed many productions and studied with Artistic Director Steve Helgoth, who cast the Academy Award-winning short West Bank Story. His stage career has included such roles as Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd, Goro in Madam Butterfly, Dave in Full Monty, Pish-Tush in Mikado, Benny in Getting Out, and Marcellus in Music Man. This past summer, he played Schultz in Argenta Theater's premiere production of Cabaret directed by Bob Hupp. He has also appeared in numerous films, television shows, commercials and music videos. His films have screened in and won awards at such festivals as Shriekfest, ScreamFest, B-Movie International, DragonCon, Little Rock Film Festival, Little Rock Horror Picture Show and the prestigious Boobs & Blood Fest in Los Angeles.
As a singer, Alan Rackley has appeared with such groups as the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Bach Festival, Ventura Master Chorale, Burbank Chorale, Burbank Symphony and The Ojai Music Festival. He has been soloist at many churches and temples, including First Congregational Los Angeles, Beverly Hills Presbyterian, Temple Israel Hollywood and Stephen S. Wise Temple Bel Air. He also sang at Frank Sinatra's funeral at Good Shepherd Church in Beverly Hills.
Alan Rackley has appeared in Jon Crawford's UCLA project "The Bees and the Birds" and the leading role in Sarah Jones' John Wayne's Bed which screened at the Little Rock Film Festival. He just recently completed filming David Bogard's Revelator and has appeared in several other films made by Arkansas filmmakers. He currently can be seen in a commercial for Blue Cross of Arkansas. Alan Rackley is thrilled to be a part of the emerging film industry in Arkansas, having just formed 09er Productions and filmed his first project, Red vs. Blue, which has been entered in the Doritos Crash the Superbowl contest. He is a member of Trinity Cathedral Choir, Little Rock (Director: Colin MacKnight) and also performs as a soloist.
Alan Rackley is a Sushi Chef, having been trained by and worked with Sensei Steven Hui at Fujisan in West Hollywood, California. He currently lives in Little Rock, Arkansas. |
