The French tenor, Benoît Rameau, has studied saxophone, piano and choral conducting, before he turned to opera singing. He joined Opera Fuoco's opera workshop, the Académie musicale Philippe Jaroussky, and graduated with a Master's degree from the CNSMDP. He won four prizes at the Gordes Melodies Competition (2021). He was also a candidate in the Hugo Wolf Wettbewerb and a finalist in the Nadia & Lili Boulanger competition in a duo with J. Barnoin. In 2023, he won 1st Prize for melody at the Marmande competition, as well as the Présence compositrice prize and the Lyrichorégra20 - Québec prize.
In concert, Benoît Rameau is soloist in Henry/L.v. Beethoven's Tenth Symphony at the Philharmonie de Paris, and in Igor Stravinsky's Pulcinella with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. He is also a member of Les Arts Florissants (Director: Paul Agnew), with whom he collaborates regularly.
His recent seasons have been marked by several premieres, including J. Stephenson and M. Pellissier's Narcisse and D. Soh's Zylan ne chantera plus at the Opéra de Lyon. He also sings works from the operatic repertoire (Pelléas et Mélisande at the Opéra de Lyon, J. Haydn's L'Infedelta delusa with La Petite Bande, Reinhard Keiser's Croesus with the Ensemble Diderot, Arnold Schoenberg's Von Heute auf Morgen, Offenbach's Les Trois Baiser du Diable at the Musica Nigella festival, Sacchini's Chimène with ARCAL, J. Strauss' Die Fledermaus directed by N. Raab, W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte...) and musicals (C. Porter's Kiss me, Kate, K. Weill's Lady in the Dark). In 2023-2024 season, he sang in O. Louati's Les Ailes du désir on tour throughout France. |
