The German mezzo-soprano, Sarah Romberger, completed her studies with Professor Gerhild Romberger and Professor Manuel Lange at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, receiving her concert exam with distinction.
Sarah Romberger made her operatic debut in 2020, while still a student, at the Vorarlberger Landestheater in Bregenz as Annio in W.A. Mozart's La clemenza di Tito. She has also performed on the stage of the Detmolder Landestheater as Zanetto in Pietro Mascagni's opera of the same name, as Isolier in Rossini's Le Comte Ory, and as Public Opinion in Offenbach's Orpheus in der Unterwelt. On the operatic stage, she captivates audiences in trouser roles not only with her vocal brilliance and clear text intelligibility, but also with her captivating joy of acting.
Sarah Romberger is regularly hailed as a "discovery" and "rising star" in the professional press. With her exceptional vocal range, she impresses both as a contralto in oratorios and as a lyric and coloratura mezzo-soprano in opera productions. Thanks to a warm, sustained low range in the alto register and a clear, bright brilliance in the upper register, she commands a broad repertoire.
In the 2024-2025 season, Sarah Romberger's concert tours will take her to Hong Kong (Dvořák Stabat Mater) and Warsaw (L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9), as well as to major German concert halls such as the Berlin, Essen, and Elbphilharmonie. There, she will make her debut alongside outstanding musical personalities such as Christoph Eschenbach, Kent Nagano, Justin Doyle, Johanna Soller, Concerto Köln, and the RIAS-Kammerchor. In 2022, she released her CD debut with W.A. Mozart's Mass in C Minor with the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln. She has also performed in recitals at the Kölner Philharmonie and the Heidelberger Frühling. Engagements have taken her to the NDR Radiophilharmonie and the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie, as well as concert halls such as the KKL Lucerne, Alte Oper Frankfurt, and Kölner Philharmonie. She has worked with renowned conductors such as Pietari Inkinen, Andrew Manze, and Christoph Poppen. She currently lives in Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. |
