The Dutch soprano, Wendy Roobol, obtained her Master of Music degree in Classical Singing from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag (2000-2006). She also studied Opera at Dutch National Opera Academy. She was a laureate at the National Vocalists Presentation in 2009, studied with Sasja Hunnego, Rita Dams and Jard van Nes and is currently coached by Paul Triepels and Sasja Hunnego.
With her warm, flexible and clear voice, Wendy Roobol is a singer whose repertoire stretches from early baroque to contemporary music. Her versatility is also evident in the many disciplines in which she operates. during her master's studies at the Dutch National Opera Academy of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, she discovered her love and talent for opera and music theater. The combination of singing with acting is her great passion, so she can regularly be seen as an opera singer on the Dutch and French stages, and she sang supporting roles with companies such as BarokOpera Amsterdam, Opera Nijetrijne and Opera Minora.
As a concert singer, Wendy Roobol could be heard in the oratorios of well-known and lesser-known composers in all style periods and she sang many concert pieces with various ensembles and orchestras. She has performed solo with conductors such as Jaap van Zweden, Reinbert de Leeuw, Richard Egarr, Lucas Vis, Ed Spanjaard and Vince Mendoza.
Chamber music occupies an important place in Wendy Roobol's career. She regularly collaborates with various ensembles and pianists with whom she performs concert programs, often in a theatrical context. She currently lives in The Hague, the Netherlands.
Wendy Roobol recently recorded all nine books with madrigals by Claudio Monteverdi with the ensemble Le Nuove Musiche, conducted by Krijn Koetsveld, which have been published on CD by Brilliant Classics. These recordings are praised worldwide by the press and public. Her first solo CD was recently released with Brilliant Classics, dedicated to 17th-century music for soprano and basso continuo about Maria. |
