The French baritone, Nicolas Rouault, started music by playing the violin; he obtained a CFEM the CNR-Conservatoire National de Region (CNR) de Poitiers in the class of Catherine Roux. Then he joined the singing class Micaela Etcheverry at the same conservatory before entering the class of Anne-Marie Rodde at the Conservatoire du 9è arrondissement de Paris, where he obtained his DFE cum laude unanimously jury. He holds a Diploma in Early Music from the CNR-Conservatoire National de Region (CNR) de Paris (class of Kenneth Weiss, Howard Crook and Michel Laplénie); he finished his opera studies at the ENM d’Argenteuil in the class of Micaela Etcheverry where he obtained his DEM in singing. He perfected during various master-classes with Rachel Yakar, Andréa Guiot, Jerome Correas, Rachid Safir, David Abramovitz, Vincent Dumestre. Rouault has also won the 1st prize of the European Music Competition in Picardy and was a finalist at the Concours de Chant Baroque de Chimay.
During professional youth academies, Nicolas Rouault sang under the direction of renowned conductors such as Christophe Rousset, Martin Gester, Rinaldo Alessandrini... and works with the leading early music ensembles such as Les Musiciens du Louvre Grenoble (Director: Marc Minkowski), Sagittarius (Director: Michel Laplénie), Akadêmia Ensemble (Director: Françoise Lasserre), Le Concert d'Astrée (Director: Emmanuelle Haïm), and also with Chœur de Chambre Accentus (Director: Laurence Equilbey)...
He has been heard recently in the role of Bacchus in the production of Philémon et Baucis by Haydn conducted by Mirella Giardelli and directed by Emilie Valentin with Les Musiciens du Louvre Grenoble (Opéra de Rouen, Auditorium de l’Opéra- Bastille…), in the title role in Monteverdi's Orfeo at the Studio-Opéra de Lyon under the baton of Christophe Coin and David Pickett and directed by Antonio Latella, and the role of Cléon in L’Ivrogne corrigé by Gluck at the Opéra de Lausanne (conductor: Michel Laplénie), in Cosi fan tutte (Guglielmo) in Vendôme conducted by Amaury du Closel, in Der Mond (ersten Bursche) by Carl Orff at the Amphithéâtre de l’opéra Bastille conducted by Denis Comtet and directed by Charlotte Nessi, and the role of the Prince in Cendrillon de Laruette at the Opéra de Dijon (directed by Christian Duchange). |
