The Brazilian bass and voice teacher, Vitor Roveri, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Voice (bass) graduated from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas in Brazil (UNICAMP) (March 2014-July 2021), where he studied under Prof. Dr. Ângelo Fernandes. He was a member of the the Ópera Studio da Unicamp, participating in productions of W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (chorus), La Traviata (chorus), Gianni Schicchi (Pinellino), and Die Fledermaus (Frosch). As a soloist, he has performed Charpentier’s Te Deum and the world premieres of of the works Prece de Abigail (from the opera Estêvão by Tadeu Taffarello) and Le Vide by Danilo Rossetti. He has taken choral conducting courses with conductors Hans Peter Schurz (Germany), Mariana Farah, Henry Leck, and Tim Brimmer (USA), as well as orchestral conducting master-classes with Raphael Delekta (Poland) and Leonardo Panigada (Venezuela). He studied under Eduardo Janho-Abumrad and participated in vocal masterclasses with Mauro Chantal, Linus Lerner, and Natália Kato.
Since 2013, Vitor Roveri has been active as a conductor, singer, voice teacher, and collaborative pianist in the cities of Jundiaí, Várzea Paulista, Valinhos, and Campinas. He was a member of the Coro Contemporâneo de Campinas (bass section) (Director: Ângelo Fernandes), which specialized in performing sacred and secular a cappella music of the 20th century and which was awarded 2nd place in the “San Juan Canta” Choir Contest in Argentina in the Universal and Classical Music category. In 2019, the group recorded an album with choral pieces from Carlos Alberto Pinto Fonseca, including the Afro-Brazilian Mass.
Vitor Roveri's extensive experience as a singer in numerous and diverse choral groups includes popular Brazilian music (samba, bossa nova), pop, rock, and African music. He has performed most of the symphonic repertoire including L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Orff's Carmina Burana, Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noel, W.A. Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Requiem, and Mass in C Minor; J.S. Bach’s Magnificat in D major BWV 243 and Cantata BWV 4; excerpts from George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Haydn's The Creation and Nelson Mass; Johannes Brahms' A German Requiem, Bruckner's Te Deum, and Gabriel Fauré's Requiem.
Vitor Roveri joined the faculty of Cary School of Music in North Carolina as a voice and piano teacher. He is currently a member of the Choral Society of Durham and is serving as choral director of church music in the Raleigh area, North Carolina: Director of Music at Jordan Lutheran Church in Apex and Cantor/Snger at Duke Chapel. |
