The French soprano, Marie-Pierre Roy, began her music studies with violin at the Conservatoire of Dijon. She joined as soon as practicable the singing class. After graduating with diplomas in both disciplines, she enrolled at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart, where she studied with Francisco Araiza. In 2009 she obtained her dual Bachelor degree in singing and teaching music with violin in the second instrument, and soon joined the Opera School in Stuttgart with Bernhard Gärtner. She obtained her diploma in summer 2014. Constantly seeking development, she benefits from her participation in master-classes, particularly with Dunja Vejzović, Shirley Close, Malcolm Walker or Georg Nigl. She has also received other pulses from musicians as Nicholas Kok and Stefan Schreiber, or director as Bernd Schmitt.
After a long and rich experience as a choir member (Choeur National des Jeunes, Cantus de Tempore, Solistenensemble Stimmkunst, Les traversées Baroque, Württembergischer Kammerchor, Opéra de Dijon, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Theater Pforzheim...), Marie-Pierre Roy turned to path as a soloist, touching on all repertoires. Among her major concer works, are J.S. Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245), Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) and Magnificat (BWV 243); L.v. Beethoven's Ode to Joy, Dvorak's Stabat Mater, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Felix Mendelssohn's Elias, or George Frideric Handel's Susanna. She also performs contemporary works: Hin-Nun by Younghi Pagh in its German premiere, Die Tränen der Eos by Volker Ignaz Schmidt, or a performance at the Contemporary Festival Eclat in Stuttgart. Early music does not lack in her repertoire, in February 2014 a CD Cantatas by Gottfried August Homilius was released on Carus Verlag label, where she sang the soprano solo parts edited by Rainer Homburg.
The opera is a chosen field for Marie-Pierre Roy. In 2012 she sang Marzelline (excerpts from L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio) in 2013 Nanetta (Falstaff) and Rosina (extracts from Il Barbiere di Siviglia), and in 2014 one of three women in Les lettres de feu madame Troussova by György Kurtág. In 2013 she also sang at the opera gala organized by the National Theatre of Rijeka in Croatia in 2014 and on tour of arias and duets from operas in France and Germany by Strohgäu-Sinfonieorchester Schwieberdingen.
Marie-Pierre Roy works with conductors as John Axelrod, Falérie Fayet, Markus Huber, Kay Johannsen, Dieter Kurz and Markus Stenz.
In April 2015, Marie-Pierre Roy played the role of Eve in Paradise Reloaded by Péter Eötvös at Theater Chemnit and in June 2015 she took part in Into the Little Hil" by George Benjamin at the Jungen Oper Stuttgart. She closed the season in July 2015 with L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 under the baton of Veronika Stoertzenbach at the Stuttgart Liederhalle, Haydn's Nelsson Mass and Amadeus in concert version of after the work by Peter Shaffer at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples under the baton of John Axelrod. In october 2015, she was on the stage of the Opera House in Palermo wjhere she makes her debut as Queen of the Night in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte under the baton of Gabriele Ferro. She currently lives in Stuttgart, Germany. |
