The English bass-baritone, Edmund Saddington, atudied at The Minster School, Southwell (Class of 2005). He began his musical career as a chorister in the cathedral choir of Southwell Minster, Nottinghamshire and as a gap-year choral scholar in the choir of Portsmouth Cathedral before embarking on undergraduate study at London's Trinity College of Music, graduating in 2010. He studies with Brindley Sherratt and Gary Coward.
Edmund Saddington now maintains a busy schedule as a freelance consort, session, oratorio and opera singer, Much in demand as a solo singer, current highlights from 2015 include Rossini's Petite messe solennelle with the Waynflete Singers, J.S. Bach's St John Passion (BWV 245) with the London Mozart Players, L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (‘Choral’) and Dvorak's Te Deum with the Bristol Ensemble and Thornbury Choral Society and George Frideric Handel's Messiah with Birmingham Conservatoire's Baroque orchestra Capelle Baroque and Portsmouth Cathedral Choir.
Edmund is also a busy consort singer, recording and performing regularly with many of the UK and Europe's finest vocal ensembles, including the Monteverdi Choir (Director: John Eliot Gardiner), Gabrieli Consort (Director: Paul McCreesh), Academy of Ancient Music, BBC Singers, Eric Whitacre Singers, Stile Antico, Cambridge Singers (Director: John Rutter), The Marian Consort (Director: Rory McCleery) and Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe), Philharmonia voices, London Voices (Director: Terry Edwards) and also his own early music trio Cantum Barbum. From 2010 to 2015 Edmund was a lay clerk in the choir of Winchester Cathedral. He is now a permanent member of the choir of the Chapels Royal, HM Tower of London. |
