Corinna Scheurle (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: 1991 - Badenweiler im Markgräflerland, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German mezzo-soprano with German-Hungarian roots, Corinna Scheurle, began her her Bachelor studies at the Universität der Künste in Berlin under Carola Höhn and Enrico Facini; and obtained her Master of Music degree in Music Theatre / Opera Performance from the Theaterakademie August Everding in Munich (October 2015-July 2017), where she studied with Professor Kammersängerin Christiane Iven. Since September 2017, she has been a member of the International Opera Studio of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin through a scholarship of the Liz Mohn culture and music foundation. She is the first winner of the Gasteig Music Prize 2017. She received the prize of the Association of German Singing Pedagogues as part of the Federal Competition Berlin 2018 and was a semi-finalist in the International New Voices Competition 2015 and a scholarship from the Wagner Association in Vorarlberg. She got important impulses from Donald Sulzen, Klesie Kelly and Sayali Dadas among others. She also absolved an intense dance apprentice in ballet and jazz dance.

Corinna Scheurle then moved to the ensemble of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich (since June 2019). She made her debut on the stage of the National Theater as Lucienne in Simon Stone's production Die tote Stadt (November 2019-July 2020) and as Tisbe in Ponnelle's production of La Cenerentola. (February-March 2020). Here she also sang the role of Annina in La Traviata (September 2019-February 2020). Many role debuts and first appearances at the Salzburg Mozart Week and the Glyndebourne Festival unfortunately had to be canceled due to the corona pandemic. On the stage of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden she was the second lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (December 2017-April 2018; April-May 2019), the Sandman in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, (December 2017; December 2018-May 2019), Inès in Il Trovatore (October-November 2018), Marcellina in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro (September 2021-April 2022), second companion in Medea and Agni in Copernicus (January-February 2019) on the stage. She made her debut at festivals such as the Bregenz Festival as Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro (August 2017), the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg as Ruggiero in George Frideric Handel's Alcina (July 2016), at the Baden-Baden Festival as Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte (2018) including a CD production by the Germans Grammophon. At the Tiroler Festspiele Erl she played Waltraute in Die Walküre for the first time (December 2019), and performed as as a kitchen boy in Rusalka (December 2019) and soloist in W.A. Mozart's Requiem.

From the 2021-2022 season, Corinna Scheurle will be a permanent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Nürnberg. Her roles at the house include debuts as Carmen and Mercédès in Georges Bizet's Carmen (October-December 2021) and Octavian in Rosenkavalier (April-May 2022). She made her debut as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, conducted by Daniel Barenboim (September 2021-April 2022).

Corinna Scheurle has worked with orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Berlin, Bayerisches Staatsorchester, Orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin, Symphonieorchester Vorarlberg, Kammerakademie Potsdam, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Munich Radio Orchestra and a chamber music formation from the NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Important conductors include Kirill Petrenko, Daniel Barenboim, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Thomas Guggeis, Attilio Cremonesi, Alessandro De Marchi, Giampaolo Bisanti and Marco Armiliato. She received important scenic impulses in collaboration with directors such as Balàzs Kovalik, Andrea Breth, Hans Neuenfels, Bartlett Sher, Isabel Ostermann, Achim Freyer, Frank Hilbrich.

In addition to the opera, Corinna Scheurle deals intensively with the lied repertoire, which she has already taken to the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Lille Opera, the Schattenburg Feldkirch, the Christophori Piano Salon in Berlin, the Vorarlberg Museum in Bregenz, the Mendelssohnhaus Leipzig and the Chopin Society in the Literaturhaus led to Darmstadt. She makes music together with the song pianists Akemi Murakami and Klara Hornig. Vocally she works with Abbie Furmansky, John Norris and Tobias Truniger.
