The French soprano, Karine Serafin, began her musical studies at the CNR of Caen. Although she holds a first prize for piano, a degree in musical eduacation as well as a degree in musicology, she decided in 1997 to devote herself to singing. She studied with Caroline Pelon at the Conservatoire municipal de musique, art dramatique et danse du 7e arrondissement de Paris (1st Baroque singing prize in June 1998).
Karine Serafin performs regularly since as a soloist in various formations, both in France and abroad and collaborating with specialists in early music (Elisabeth Joyé, Martin Gester, Luís Otávio Santos ...). She also works in professional vocal ensembles, including Choeur Rigolus/The Endless Summer (since 2005), Ensemble Jacques Moderne (Director: Joël Suhubiette; since 2006), Choeur de chambre Les Elements (since 2006), Ensemble William Byrd (since 2008), Le Parlement de Musique, Ensemble Il Ballo (since 2007), Choeur Florent Marchet (since 2012), Ensemble Les Lunaisiens (since 2014). She has recorded several albums with these conductors and ensembles. She is also interested in vocal music of the 20th century and thus participates in Sara Lazarus workshop and in in various shows creations with contemporary dance and theater companies since January 2000. She also sings since November 2006 in the vocal quintet Cinq de Coeur in the musical comedy shows Métronome et Chasseurs de sons (on French tour). |
