Ilona Szczepańska (Mezzo-soprano, Choral Conductor)

Born: Kraków, Poland

The Polish mezzo-soprano singer, choral conductor and music teacher, Ilona Szczepańska, graduated from the Akademii Muzycznej im. Krzysztofa Pendereckiego w Krakowie (Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków), majoring in Vocal Studies at the Faculty of Vocal and Acting - first and second cycle studies with distinction, and Artistic Education in the Field of Musical Art at the Faculty of Creativity, Interpretation and Music Education - first cycle studies. Singer, choral conductor, and teacher.

Ilona Szczepańska's artistic achievements include, among others, the solo performance in the Polish premiere of Duke Ellington's The Sacred Concerts under the direction of Wojciech Groborz. Her greatest vocal achievements include the role of Dido in the stage adaptation of Henry Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas, a production of Capella Cracoviensis, directed and choreographed by Natalia Iwaniec - Opera Rara 2021. She has collaborated with musicians such as Fabio Bonizzoni, Ottavio Dantone, Paul Esswood, Vincent Dumestre, Kai Wessel, Robert Hollingworth, Joachim Mencel, and Stan Breckenridge. She has participated in numerous prestigious music festivals in Poland and Europe. She collaborates regularly with Capella Cracoviensis (since December 2017).

Ilona Szczepańska also devotes her professional life to teaching, which she derives great pleasure from. Besides developing her artistic skills in classical singing, she also finds time for popular singing, which is her great passion, inspiration, and lifelong drive. In recent years, she has led countless vocal workshops with choirs, vocal ensembles, and soloists of all ages and skill levels. In April 2022, she founded her own studio Ilona Szczepańska - Studio Piosenki. Above all, she values ​​a genuine smile and the ability to rediscover her passions every day. She currently lives in Kraków, Poland.
