The American tenor, Matthew Tresler, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from Northern Arizona University (1997; Recipient, opera scholarship); his Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting, University of Miami (2005; Academic Award of Merit, inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors fraternity); his Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from University of Miami (2008; major in Choral Conducting, cognate in Music Education; Thesis Title: Ernst Pepping’s Missa Dona Nobis Pacem; A Conductor’s Analysis for Performance).
Matthew Tresler is the Director of Music Ministries at historic Coral Gables Congregational Church where he conducts the Chancel Choir and Vocal Ensemble. An active professional ensemble singer, he sings with with the Los Angeles Master Chorale (since 2009-2010 season), Conspirare (the grammy-nominated ensemble), Seraphic Fire (a bold new ensemble in Miami specializing in early and newly-composed music), Santa Fe Desert Chorale (where he serves as assistant conductor), Bach Collegium San Diego (Director: Ruben Valenzuela), True Concord, and Vox Humana. In the past, he has also sung with the Phoenix Chorale and Spire Chamber Ensemble. He was also a member of the Phoenix Bach Choir for eight seasons. He has also worked as a studio singer for film soundtracks in Los Angeles.
Also active as a solo singer, praised for his “feathery light acrobatics” (The OC Register) and voice of “unearthly beauty,” (Miami Herald), Matthew Tresler has performed with the Los Angeles Master Chorale, New World Symphony, Flagstaff Symphony, Les Surprise Baroque, Baroque Festival Corona del Mar, and Early Music Hawaii, American Bach Series, Miami Bach Society, Victoria Bach Festival and with the Master Chorale of South Florida. Recent conducting engagements include work with the Kokopelli Choir in Canada, and upcoming solo engagements include a Schubet Mass in E@ with the New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas.
Matthew Tresler taught high school choral music for eight years in Gilbert, Arizona prior to his studies at Miami, where he was the Senior Teaching Assistant (2006-2008). He is currently the Academic Chair of Music and Director of Vocal Music at Irvine Valley College, in Irvine, California. He is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers (2002-2004), and is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda (2005). He married Gabrielle Tinto on June 1, 2013, and currently lives in Irvine, California. |
