The Czech baritone, Martin Vacula, studied at Mendelovo gymnázium Opava (Class of 1998). He finished the secondary school and two-year study of singing at the Music School of Vaclav Kálik in Opava at Vera Smolkova in 2005. He then graduated from solo singing at the University of Ostrava (Ostravská univerzita), the Institute of Arts, in the class of Michael Kozelsky. From 2003 to 2008 he continued the study privately with baritone Vaclav Zitek.
During his studies Martin Vacula collaborated with the opera choir of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava (1998-2002). In 2003 he became a member of the opera choir of the National Theatre in Prague, and from 2007 until April 2013 he performed with the Prague Philharmonic Choir (Pražský filharmonický sbor).
Nowadays Martin Vacula regularly collaborates with the Collegium 1704 (Director: Václav Luks), Ensemble Inégal, Czech Ensemble Baroque, Hipocondria Ensemble, Collegium Marianum, Capella Mariana, Damian Ensemble, Musica Aeterna Bratislava, Czech Baroque Ensemble Quintet, and is a founding member of the chamber choir Martinů Voices.
In 2013 Martin Vacula appeared at the Music festival in Znojmo in Combattimento (Tancredi, solo bass) and in 2014 as Momus in Rameau's opera Platée. In seasons 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 with the Collegium 1704 he collaborated on the musical accompaniment of Raduz and Mahulena performance at the National Theatre. In the summer of 2015 he appeared at the Olomouc Baroque Festival in Saeculum coronatum (Fortitudo). He currently lives in Olomouc, Czech Republic. |
