The German bass, Michael Volle, studied primarily under Josef Metternich and Rudolf Piernay.
Michael Volle has established an international reputation as a singer through his long-term engagements at the opera-houses of Mannheim, Bonn, Düsseldorf and Cologne and has made guest appearances at major music festivals and opera-houses throughout Europe. He is currently engaged at Zürich Opera.
Michael Volle is also much in demand as a recitalist and as a concert soloist with such distinguished conductors as Seiji Ozawa, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Charles Dutoit, James Conlon, Ingo Metzmacher, Helmut Rilling and Valery Gergiev.
Michael Volle has recorded for a variety of labels, and his radio and television appearances include the Schwetzinger Festival production of W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni for ARTE.
