Dieter Weimann (Tenor)

Born: May 14, 1941 - Saalfeld, Thuringia, Germany
Died: July 1, 1976 - Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

The German tenor, Dieter Weimann, was a member of the Thuringian Boys' Choir "Thüringer Sängerknaben" from October 1950 to July 1960. He was a winner of the IVth International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition 1972, category: Voice men. In just a few years, he had become a distinguished interpreter. From 1974, he was vocal soloist at the Gewandhaus Leipzig. He died in Leipzig in 1976 after a short, severe illness, at the age of 35 years.
