Wiener Singakademie (The Vienna Singing Academy), consisting at present of approximately 100 singers (females & males), understands itself as an ambitious ensemble with professional requirement and high artistic level. In regular sample work the choir is prepared by its conductor Heinz Ferlesch for the various musical challenges. By consistent choir singing being corrected, and the individual training of the singers of Wiener Singakademie, it is possible to achieve balanced and rich choir singing, while the single singers are trained correctly to unfold and use their own voice in the choir optimally under the guidance of experienced singing teachers.
The repertoire of the Wiener Singakademie does not only cover classical choir works, as for instance Händel’s oratorios, J.S. Bach’s Passions, sacred works of Mozart, Haydn, L.v. Beethoven, Bruckner and Berlioz, Gustav Mahler's Symphonies No. 2 & No. 3, as well as his Klagendes Lied, Orff’s Carmina Burana, but also works from the 20th century, by Arnold Schoenberg, Schmidt, George Enescu, Arthur Honegger, Weill and Schnittke. Also the extensive a-cappella-literature is regularly performed.
In supplement of the artistic commitment also space exists for experiencing the choir as community in the context of journeys abroad, rehearsing min arene and except-musical activities.
With the year of the foundation 1858, Wiener Singakademie is one of the oldest concert choirs of Europe. Since the initialization of the Vienna Concert Hall in 1913 it has there its permanent appearing place. Renowned artists, such as Johannes Brahms (choir conductor 1863-1864), G. Mahler, Strauss, Clemens Krauss, Georg Solti, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Roger Norrington, Claudio Abbado, Karl Böhm, John Eliot Gardiner, Lorin Maazel and Simon Rattle made music with the ensemble. In the passed season projects with Kent Nagano, Vladimir Fedosejew, Dennis Russell Davies and Adam Fischer took place. |
