The American tenor, Byron Wright, has a master's degree in vocal performance from California State University, Northridge. A student of Dr. David Scott, Byron performed principal tenor roles at CSUN and Cal Arts, including Cosi fan Tutti under the direction of Gerhard Samuel, and The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, The Elixer of Love, The Barber Of Seville, and others under Scott. Byron was a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions in Seattle and Los Angeles.
Performing as a soloist and chorale member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Roger Wagner Chorale, Byron Wright has toured nationally and internationally. He has performed under conductors including Zubin Mehta, Carlo Maria Giulini, and others at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion and Lukas Foss at the Ojai Festival and under Sandor Salgo at the Carmel Bach Festival. In Portland, Oregon, Byron has been a soloist with groups including Portland Symphonic Choir, Oregon Repertory Singers, Columbia Symphony Orchestra, Bach Cantata Choir, Cantores in Eccelsia, and many others. He has been a church soloist and section leader since 1973, and has currently been with the First United Methodist Church since 1990. |
