History & Mission:

Tokyo Musik Kreis is a choir based in the greater Tokyo area. Since its establishment in 2006, by a university student and a recent graduate, it has grown to about 70 singers from around the world, mostly young professionals and all in their 20s and 30s. The resident conductor is Yusuke Watanabe, a member of the Bach Collegium Japan, and the repetoire consists mainly of Baroque, Classical, and Romantic choral music, usually performed with orchestral accompaniment.

The name Tokyo Musik Kreis, German for Tokyo Music Circle, comes not only from the TMK’s aspiration be successful as a classical choir, but from their desire, through our performance, to experience beautiful music together with their audience, and for it to emotionally move us together as one. They lways work hard at sincere practice and strive for a deep familiarity with the music, and continually seek to improve. Their aim is to joyfully convey an original expression of music to the audience.
