Johann Günther Auer was born the son of Christian Auer (trumpeter in Plauen). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on October 30, 1733; studied there from 1733 to 1738; and at Universität Leipzig from 1739. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. |
