Johann Jeremias Göbel was organist and copyist active in Köthen, where he seved as Kantor at Jakobikirche. J.S. Bach was praised by him in 1722 for rehearsing diligently with his musicians, unlike some of those for whom J.J. Göbel was responsible. He , emphasises "that even the most famous virtuosos rehearse and practise their music beforehand, as we may see dearly from the example of the princely Kapelle here, which practises its exercitium musician every week".
