Christian Friedrich Richter was a German physician, theologian, and poet of Pietist songs. He was a son of a Council member. He studied medicine and theology in Halle, where he was converted by A.H. Francke. From 1697, he was a doctor at the Halle orphanage, in the year that he was employed by A.H. Francke as inspector of the Halle schools; from 1699 he worked as a prison doctor for the entire Halle institutions. Richter received his doctorate in 1706 in Halle.
In addition to his medical work - for example invention of a Goldtinktur (essentia dulcis) - Christian Friedrich Richter wrote edifying tracts and 25 sacred songs. |
