ANPO (Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra) “New Camerata” was founded in 2008 and originally consisted of members of a small orchestra, which participated in the “Aberdeen Youth Orchestras Festival” in 2008. The members of the ensemble are mostly the musicians of Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra. The main goal of the ensemble is to achieve new and unique presentations of chamber music repertoire in international music world. The repertoire of the ensemble includes classical as well as contemporary chamber music masterpieces of European, American and Armenian composers. “New Camerata” premiered and performed works of contemporary composers such us Krisztina Megyeri, Ingvar Karkoff, Rolf Straver, Louis Andriessen, Andreas Schmidt, Martin Staeffler, Don Jaffe, Haro Stephanyan, Artemi Ayvazyan, Lazar Saryan, Vahram Babayan, Tigran Mansurjan, Karen Ananyan, Hovhannes Manukyan, Gor Hovhannisyan, Simon Hovhannisyan, Jemmi Minasyan, Arman Padaryan, David Wallace, Gunther Schuller, Philippe Hersant, Zygmunt Krauze etc.
Also, “New Camerata” combines music with other arts: concert-exhibitions with painter Vahan Kochar, photographer Jan Janssen etc.
The ensemble participated in “Gyumri Renaissance Music Festival” (I prize), “Young Euro Classic Festival”, “Pommersfelden Festival”, “Niedersachsen Chamber Music Festival”, “Killington Chamber Music Festival”, “Flagstaff Contemporary Music Festival”, “Lucerne Festival Academy”.
New Camerata also cooperated with the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Armenia and participated in “Cultural Stop” and ‘’String Quartets of Armenian Composers’’ programs. |
