The English harpsichordist, Robert Aldwinckle, studied in England (?)
Robert Aldwinckle has an international reputation as a harpsichordist, having performed very extensively all over Europe, the USA and the Far East. He has played in most of the prestigious Halls worldwide including Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, the Philharmonie in Berlin, La Fenice in Venice, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and in Salzberg, Edinburgh, Versailles and Buckingham Palace. He has worked with violinists Pinchas Zukerman, Yehudi Menuhin, Gidon Kremer, Viktoria Mullova and Nigel Kennedy and with conductors Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, Farncombe, Charles Mackerras, Raymond Leppard, Roy Goodman and Tate. He has worked alongside many world class singers including Jessye Norman, Teresa Berganza, Olaf Bär and James Bowman. Opera houses in which he has performed include Paris Garnier, Reggio Emilia, Drottningholm, Dresden, Venice, Paris Chatelet, Madrid, Versailles and Monte Carlo.
Robert Aldwinckle has a piano-duo with Michael Aston playing a wide-range of repertoire from J.S. Bach through W.A. Mozart, Francis Poulenc and William Walton. Robert has recently (2006) returned from Hong Kong where he was conducting from the harpsichord performances of Mozart’s Bastien and Bastienne and Rousseau's Le Devin du Village as well as giving concerts and broadcasts with violinist Benedict Cruft of the Six Sonatas for Violin and Harpsichord by J.S. Bach.
Robert Aldwinckle is a much sought-after vocal coach and he works with many young singers both at the Royal Academy of Music and at Trinity College of Music.
Robert Aldwinckle recently recorded J.S. Bach’s six Brandenburg Concertos with the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester on a widely acclaimed CD. He has made various solo harpsichord CD's including a recent recording of Haydn Keyboard Sonatas and a very successful recital of famous J.S. Bach works. |
