In October of 1997 and April of 1998, the growing community of Allen was treated to orchestral performances by a group of musicians known as the North Texas Philharmonic. Originally a volunteer orchestra who passed the hat to offset the cartage and mileage expenses, this humble beginning has developed into the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra & Allen Symphony Chorus.
Today the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra is a professional orchestra comprised of area musicians, many who are band and orchestra directors of local school districts. Their musical talent and creative prowess enable the Allen Philharmonic to design concert programs that balance an exciting entertainment experience for our patrons while artistically challenging our musicians. The orchestra offers annual concert series, community outreach events, and youth education programs.
The Allen Philharmonic Orchestra & Allen Symphony Chorus are a 501(c) 3, non-profit organization, funded by corporate and individual donations, civic grants, the City of Allen, and the Allen Arts Alliance. Their mission is to enhance their community’s rich culture, foster a community-wide appreciation for music, and support local businesses in their community.
