The German choral conductor and music pedagogue, Jörn Hinnerk Andresen, studied in Dresden and Amsterdam with Hans-Christoph Rademann, Siegfried Kurz and Daniel Reuss.
After working in Zwickau and Koblenz as a choir director and band leader, Jörn Andresen came to the Munich Gärtnerplatz Theater in 2008 in the same function (October 2008-January 2015). From 2015 to 2019 he was choir director of the Saxon State Opera in Dresden. One of his great successes here was the rehearsal of Arnold Schoenberg's Moses and Aron, for which the Semperoper Choir was nominated for the International Opera Award 2018. Guest engagements have taken him to the English National Opera (ENO), London and the Munich State Opera. In addition to more than sixty operas, operettas and musicals of all genres and epochs, he has also conducted a broad repertoire of Baroque works, including the Baroque Orchestra Cappella Confluentes, which he founded. The rediscovery of works from the Baroque period is a major concern of his work. He also works closely with ensembles such as Lautten Compagney Berlin, whose regular guest conductor he is, the Staatskapelle Halle, Vokal Nord Tromsø and the Batzdorfer Hofkapelle.
Jörn Andresen is a regular guest for concerts, CD productions and rehearsals with radio choirs in Europe, e. g. the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks in Munich, the MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig, the Danish Radio Choir Copenhagen and the Chœur de Radio France, Paris. From 2008 to 2013 he directed the Vienna State Opera Choir Concert Association at the Salzburg Festival. As a choir director, he worked with (almost) all major conductors, including Pierre Boulez, Christian Thielemann, Antonio Pappano, Daniele Gatti, Kirill Petrenko, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Alan Gilbert, Fabio Luisi and Ingo Metzmacher.
After teaching at the music academies in Cologne and Dresden as well as working for several years as a mentor to the German Music Council in the Choir Conductors' Forum, Jörn Hinnerk Andresen accepted a professorship for choral conducting at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in October 2019. |
