The Kammerchor Bad Homburg, which is made up of around 35 Bachchor singers, has a long tradition. Even before World War II there was a "Großen Chor" (today's Bachchor) at the Erlöserkirche, which designed the oratorio performances, and the so-called "Kleinen Chor" (the current Kammerchor), whose focus is still on a capella literature and works with chamber music accompaniment. Since the beginning of 1998 both choirs have been conducted by Susanne Rohn.
The Kammerchor Bad Homburg aims to get as close as possible to the sound ideal of the respective period through a corresponding “historical” performance practice and also uses the special spatial possibilities of the Erlöserkirche. Concert tours have taken the Kammerchor to many German cities as well as to Norway, Denmark, England, Luxembourg, Austria, Italy, Sweden, Russia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Poland. In summer 2014 the ensemble performed in the Dresden's Frauenkirche; in 2015 the ensemble was a guest in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig. In November/December 2016 the choir accompanied the well-known German actor Sebastian Koch on a pre-Christmas reading tour through Germany.
The Kammerchor Bad Homburg won the Hessischen Chorwettbewerb in 1989 in a special category. In 1990 it became the best church choir at the Deutschen Chorwettbewerb and received a sponsorship award. In 2005 the Kammerchor won the Falkensteiner Chorwettbewerb. |
