The Catalan conductor, Jordi Casas Bayer, began his musical studies at the Escolanía de Montserrat and later completed them in Barcelona, where he studied law and philosophy.
Jordi Casas Bayer founded the Coral Carmina and was its Director for over 15 years and also director for two courses of Coro de RTVE. From September 1988 to 1998, he served as Musical Director of Orfeó Català, of which he was Artistic Director. In front of these ensembles he has had the opportunity to work in a variety of repertoires and to collaborate with the most prestigious conductors.
Jordi Casas Bayer has participated as a director in the most important festivals in Europe (Spain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Britain, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia and Austria) and in Israel, Mexico, Cuba, Guatemala, California, China, Morocco and Japan. In the summer 1997 was the director of the competition European Youth Choir of Europa Cantat.
Since September 1990, Jordi Casas Bayer directed the Coro de Cámara del Palau de la Música Catalana and since 2000 has been directing the Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid. Also in the capital he developed another of his major choir, the Coro del Teatro Real, which he drected from 2004 to 2008. In 2011, he was appointed Director of the Coro de RTVE. |
