Ronen Borshevsky (Conductor)

Born: Israel

The Israeli conductor, Ronen Borshevsky, holds an Artist's Diploma in orchestra conducting. He holds a Masters degree in conducting and has studied with Mendi Rodan and Noam Sheriff at the music academies in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv. As a winner of the Koussevitzky scholarship, he was invited to participate in the prestigious conducting master-classes of the Tanglewood Music Festival where he studied with Maestro Seiji Ozawa and Bernard Haitink with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He also mastered under Maestro Hans Graf in Vienna. He has won prizes in international conducting competitions in Japan and in Denmark. He is a prize winner of the Tokyo International Conducting Competition and the Nikolai Malko Conducting Competition in Denmark.

Ronen Borshevsky has worked with all the important orchestras in Israel, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and has appeared as a conductor in the Far East, the USA and Europe. He served as assistant conductor to Zubin Mehta in the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also a Professor at the Buchman Mehta School of music in the Tel Aviv University.

Ronen Borshevsky is the music director of the Gary Bertini Israeli Choir, Kibbutz Artzi Choir and Jerusalem Oratorio Choir. He has led the "German – Israeli Philharmonie" on a concert tour in Germany, conducting at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, among other venues.

Several of his recordings were released in Europe. His CD recording "the seventh gate" under the label Ad Vitam Harmonia Mundi won the Charles Munch award, Grand Prix International, "L'Orphée du prestige lyrique de l'Europe", featuring the Jerusalem Oratorio Chamber Choir.
