The French bass, Nicolas Brooymans, graduated from the Masseur-Kinésithérapeute in 2007. Since July 2011 he has devoted himself entirely to lyrical singing, a passion that has inspired him since the age of 12 when he joined the Chœur d'enfants de l’Opéra de Paris (Children's Choir of the Paris Opera), directed By Francis Bardot. He worked on his vocal technique with Sophie Hervé, at the Conservatoire du 18ème à Paris where he obtained his singing award in 2013. Since then, he has worked with Frédéric Bourreau and with Malcom King in particular.
Since 2007, Nicolas Brooymans has sung with Ensemble Aedes (Director: Mathieu Romano); winner in 2009 of the he Lilliane Bettencourt Prize for choral singing awarded by the Académie des Beaux Arts, with which he interprets the a capella repertoire from the 20th century to the present day. He has become increasingly involved in operas at national festivals and theaters (La Chaise-Dieu, Ambronay, Saint-Denis, Beaune, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Pleyel…), and regularly collaborates with renowned ensembles such as Le Cercle de l'Harmonie (Director: Jérémie Rhorer) and Les Musiciens du Louvre Grenoble (Director: Marc Minkowski). In 2012, he became a member of the Chœur de l'Armée Française. Since 2013, he sings with the Ensemble Correspondances (Director: Sébastien Daucé) with which he performs the French repertoire of the 17th century and recorded an unpublished program of Charpentier for Harmonia Mundi in January 2013.
Nicolas Brooymans sings asc a soloist, performing Sarastro in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, J. Haydn's Last 7 Words of Christ, Haydn's Stabat Mater, and Charles Gounod's Messe de Sainte Cécile. In June 2008, he sang Berlioz's Les Nuits d'été and Puccini's Missa di Gloria in Marmande. He was Calchas in Offenbach's La Belle Hélène in 2009 and played the roles of Masetto and Il Commendatore in two productions of W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni. In 2011, he was Abbé Bridaine in Louis Varney's Les Mousquetaires au couvent, sang the bass arias in J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) and was the bass soloist in W.A. Mozart's Great Mass in C minor given at the Cathédrale de Bayonne and St. Eustache in Paris. In 2014, he performed the bass arias in J.S. Bach's s Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) conducted by F. Bardot at St François de Salles in Paris and at the Salle Ravel in Levallois. In September 2014, he collaborated with Itay Jedlin and his Le Concert Étranger and was Pilatus in J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) at the Festival d'Ambronay. |
