The Italian bass, Danielle Carnovich, completed his musical studies at the Conservatorio C. Pollini di Padova, first obtaining the Diploma in Modern Transverse Flute, and subsequently devoting himself to the study of Composition and Singing, where he specialized in the Baroque repertoire.
Danielle Carnovich concert activity began in 1981, participating in the most prestigious early music festivals both in Italy and in Europe, and later also in Canada, USA, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Japan, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina. He has sung as a soloist with The Consort of Musicke, Il Giardino Armonico (Director: Giovanni Antonini), Ensemble Chiaroscuro, Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca, Ensemble Elyma, Concerto Palatino (Director: Bruce Dickey), Ensemble Daedalus, under the direction of Frans Brüggen, Philippe Herreweghe, Paul Angerer, Nigel Rogers, Andrew Parrott, Alan Curtis, René Clemencic, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Diego Fasolis.
In 1986, Danielle Carnovich began working with Jordi Savall and Hespèrion XX (now Hespèrion XXI). The following year La Capella Reial de Catalunya was founded, group in which he has been the bass-holder for over 25 years. With the group I Madrigalisti della RTSI, he began in 1989 to collaborate constantly with the Radio della Svizzera Italiana, making numerous recordings, concerts and television broadcasts. During those years he was also a member of Coro della Radio Svizzera (Director: Diego Fasolis). He has also been a member of Coro Del Centro Di Musica Antica Di Padova, and Schola Gregoriana.
After having been a member of the of Concerto Italiano (Director: Rinaldo Alessandrini) and La Venexiana (Director: Claudio Cavina) since 1991, participating in the historical recordings that have in fact brought the two groups to fame, Danielle Carnovich founded in 2009 La Compagnia del Madrigale together with Rossana Bertini and Giuseppe Maletto, with whom he sang madrigals for over twenty years. The new ensemble participated prestigious festivals, such as Ravenna Festival, Festival Ounde Muziek of Utrecht and MITO a Milano, as well as important recordings with the Glossa and Arcana labels.
Considered a specialist in the madrigal repertoire, Danielle Carnovich also made in May 1993 his debut in the opera at the Gran Teatre of LICEU de Barcelona in the role of Caronte in Monteverdi's Orfeo, which he recorded on CD in the same year for the BBC in London, and on DVD in 2002 in Barcelona in the role of Plutone.
In 1999 Danielle Carnovich moved permanently to Spain, where for some years he took part in the Intonationes and Cantoria Hispanica projects, two young groups specialized in the polyphonic repertoire of the Iberian peninsula.
In addition to radio recordings for RTB-BRT, RAI, Radio France Musique, R.T.S.I., BBC, Daniele Carnovich recorded more than 100 CD's for Decca Record Company, Accent, Astrée, Glossa, Opus 111, Tactus, Victoire Music, Arcana, Argo, K617, Fontalis, Alia Vox, Naxos, some of which have received prestigious awards such as the Diapason d'or of the year, Premio Cini, Grammophone Award, the Midem Classical Awards or the Grammi 2011. These recordings include the complete Monteverdi's madrigals, as well as six different versions of Monteverdi's Vespro.
Daniele Carnovich was also dedicated to the teaching of music to children. He taught Music Education for almost twenty years, and in January 2001 published in Italy the text called “Do Re Mi”, a complete course of in sound education and music for the Elementary School in two volumes. |
