The Swiss conductor, organist and harpsichordist, Diego Fasolis, studied in Zürich with Erich Vollenwyder (organ and concertist), with Jürg von Vintschger (teaching and piano soloist), voice with Carol Smith and choral conducting with Klaus Knall, obtaining four excellent diplomas. In addition to master classes with internationally renown artists, he studied organ and improvisation with Gaston Litaize in Paris, and early music performance technique with Michael Radulescu in Cremona. He is holder of several prizes and international honours, as first prize in Stresa (1983), first prize and scholarship from the Migros-Göhner Foundation (1983 and 1985), Hegar Prize (1984) and finalist in the Geneva Competition 1985.
As an organist Diego Fasolis executed in 1985 J.S. Bach's complete organ works and Felix Mendelssohn's and Franz Liszt's ones in 1986. In addition he performed at different times the complete works of Dietrich Buxtehude, W.A. Mozartt, and César Franck. In parallel to his organ concerts, he is active as a chorus director, as a conductor of instrumental ensembles and as a chamber musician. His activity as a composer is remarkable as well.
Since 1986 Diego Fasolis has worked at the Swiss Radio as musician and conductor, and in 1993 he was appointed resident director of the Swiss Radio-Television Ensembles, including Coro della Radio Svizzera (Swiss Italian Radio Chorus), as a permanent conductor. In 1995 he founded the Ensemble Vanitas and has remained its spiritus rector and principal conductor.
Diego Fasolis adds to his versatility and virtuosity a rigorous style which is highly appreciated by the public and by international critics who follow him through the most important concert series or in the numerous radio, television and CD recordings. Due to his knowledges in vocal and instrumental field he is often invited as a director from musical organizations such as Arena di Verona, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, an as teacher and member of international juries in many competitions. |
