The English baritone, stages master educator & cycle coach, Richard Collier, gained a place at the age of seven in the King's College Choir Cambridge, and this has meant that he has been "singing for his supper" from an early age. After leaving school, he went on to train at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama for both his degree and two further years at post-graduate level (1986-1991).
Richard Collier was active as a freelance baritone singer from 1990 to 2010. His freelance career has been similar to that followed by many a jobbing singer: a mix of all vocal genres: opera, oratorio, recital and church music. He has even had the unique experience of dressing up as a monk and singing in a pop group with another nine classical singers. Each year since then, the "monks", aptly named Gregorian, have toured extensively in Europe and beyond and plan to tour America next year. Playing to packed houses of upwards of 5,000 people is an unusual experience indeed for most classical singers. He combines this with regular trips to Switzerland to record and give concerts with the Coro della Radio Svizzera (Director: Diego Fasolis).
Richard Collier has also worked as Tree Surgeon since 1998 (Tree Surgery, Annual Prunes, Hedge Trimming, Stump Grinding & Garden Clearance); Cycle coach and Indoor cycling Instructor with Stages, Wattbike & Spinning Spinmonk Ltd since February 2011 (Independent coach and instructor at various gyms including H2 Bike Run, Cadence Performance Cycles, Third Space and elsewhere); Director Spinmonk Ltd (since April 2016 (Cycle Coach, Master Educator for Stages Indoor Cycling and classically trained Baritone) |
