The Danish baritone singer, pianist, organist and conductor, Niels Bo Emgren, made his debut as bandmaster at the age of 16 and then graduated as a singer from the soloist class at the Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium (Jutland Conservatory of Music) in 2001. He furthered his education at, among others, the Verbier Master Class with Håkan Hagegård and Theo Adam as well as with Roger Vignoles, with whom he also received private tuition at in London.
Niels Bo Emgren has been a soloist on several opera stages, in oratorios in many other contexts. He has been a permanent member of the DR Radiokammerkoret (DR Radio Chamber Choir) and toured with Mads Elung-Jensen and Kopenhagen Kabarett. He cultivates his great interest in Lieder and romances in a fruitful collaboration with his longtime accompanist Lene Buch Rasmussen. He has served as conductor of the Jysk Akademisk Kor, Aarhus and organist at Bryrup, Vinding and Vrads churches. Currently he serves as organist and choir director at Klosterkirken Horsens.
In 2004, Mads Elung-Jensen and Niels Bo Emgren formed the ensemble Kopenhagen Kabarett with four colleagues, which specialized in the elegant and virtuosic entertainment music from the Berlin of the Weimar Republic. During its lifetime, Kopenhagen Kabarett reached a large Danish audience, both live and on popular TV and radio broadcasts.
